I just completed one of the projects I volunteered for at my son's school. They are having a silent auction and my job was to put together a class project that involved the children. I decorated a toy chest and had the children’s put their thumbprints on different bugs. It was a lot of fun!
I really enjoyed pyrographing the lines into the wood and then painting the shapes with acrylics. I also applied a protective clear coat. Here are some pictures of the toy chest and some close-ups of the pond scene:
Aaah! I am jumping up and down! This is spectacular!!! Gosh, this is so goshdarn cute and beautiful. Perfect for a playroom or kid's bedroom. I am soooooo impressed! This is definitely going to get a high bid!
Just beautiful! How creative of you to incorporate fingerprints - I LOVE THAT and the colors and picture, it's perfect for any child's room, boy or girl. That school is lucky to have you there as a creative caring mom who donates such wonderful things from her heart.
This was definitely a fun project! It was really time consuming though. I think from beginning to end I spent about 20 - 24 hours (I wasn't really keeping track). I delivered it today and it is already generating a great buzz for the event so I am very pleased! Thanks for all the nice comments.
Bravo, bravo, bravo, Do you hear me clapping???? This is all to fantastic Edrian! I love the colors you used and the theme! It's wonderful and would go great in any child's bedroom. What fun and whimsy!
Edrian, This is so gorgeous! You did such a beautiful job and I am sure it will go for lots of money!! Fundraising is so hard but with great art projects like this, it makes it so much more fun and easy! Really, this is lovely!
You should see the "self portraits" I had to work with in my son's class! Yikes! I'll post photos soon although it is not nearly as lovely as the chest you made!

PS. Thanks for the comment about my class. I have learned so much already. This week I bring in my own book and show her some samples of my art for her opinion. (She was an art director for major publishers!) I'll post more about the class soon. I wish we could take a class together! That would be fun!
