A fabulous take on the topic and the same about the perspective too. A kid's nightmare of seeing your best friend in the can... and i think most of us went through this heart breaking experience.
Thanks for your comment Edrian! Your illlustration reminds me of the time I gave away an old "Big Bird" doll belonging to my oldest son. It was torn and dirty and I hadn't seen him with it in ages! One day, not long after, he came to me looking for it! I learned many lessons through that little boy! Lucky for me he was a love of a boy then and still is! Nice job capturing this!!
I was hesitant about illustrating this idea, mostly because I wasn't sure if the perspective looked right, and if it would be too sad. My other idea was kids stacking cans into a tower (my boy likes to do that)
I think learning to let go is quite the lesson to learn, and a difficult one to teach. I have been the 'mean mommy' many times when its time for my children to part with a dear but very much broken down toy. I'd like to think that they are beginning to understand that personal ties are stronger than material ones.
Diana- my daughter still has the teddy her Godmother gave her, and she will probably keep it until she decides it's time to let go...
Elise- My kids teach me something new all the time!
Such a beautiful illustration of letting go. Very nicely done and very sad. It reminds me of when I finally had to let go of my blankie. (Now that was a long time ago, sheesh!)
Hi, Edrian. I GOT YOUR CARDS TODAY! Hooray! Oh, they're really, really beautiful! The colors are rich and bright. And the cardstock is nice and heavy with a gorgeous matte feel to it. Like velvet.
