I needed a break from my troll and goats.  So I drew this earlier today. I had the idea in my head, but I did not think too much about composition, perspective, etc. If I had to do it over, I would change it some.

YES! I won last week's challenge at Monday Art Day! Please check them out if you haven' done so already. They have some great talent!  I was so surprised. I had not submitted anything in months because of time, and I submitted something last week and it won! It feels great to have a little validation.

I promised I would post the progress I'm making with the Three Billy Goats Gruff dummy. I had an incredibly productive week last week. I am also becoming more familiar with InDesign, which seems to be the software of choice. So long for Quark Xpress! 

There's a couple of spreads that I'm thinking about revising because now that I see them in color, the composition doesn't work as well as it did when I was looking only at the line work. Rather than getting stuck on revisions, I will continue to move forward and do the revisions at the end. -- I'm half way through. Yay!

Monday ARTDAY: Telephone

The theme for Monday Art Day this week is telephone. Since I'm in character study mode, here's another short character study...

MONDAY ARTDAY: 1 Character, 4 panels

I started this character as an exercise for last week's Illustration Friday theme poof. The idea evolved from a sketch to a series of illustrations for a mini story. I have colored two of the illustrations, and may complete the other two. 

As part of my process for this study, I had to use reference material. I am not sure how many artists draw from memory, but I am on of those that needs to look at the subject for better accuracy, or things begin to look a little too weird. Even if the lines of the subject are very simplified, it still gets a little tricky for me with perspective and such. I wish I had the time to take a drawing class with live models. I think it would really help my drawing abilities. For now, I will keep working with my two live models….my children! They don’t seem to mind either!

MOTHER, BABY and ANOTHER LITTLE GUY!

I have been thinking about a spot illustration for my business cards. OH, It's so difficult to create a 'brand' for yourself! To create that perfect image that captures your style...an image that is simple, yet makes a lasting impact and leaves people wanting to see more. 

Well, I don't know that this image really does it all, but people keep asking me for business cards, and I feel so unprofessional without one!  So I am just saying this one will have to do!

When I was painting the spot illustration, I had a strong urge to dabble (or doodle) with some paint and this little guy came out...Don't know where he came from, but he sure looks like he's ready for trouble!
