Illustration Friday : Worry

This is my first post for illustration friday and the theme is ‘worry’. I am a little late on posting it, because I just joined the group today. Since I am trying to enter the realm of children’s books and I need to get proficient at drawing children in a stylized manner, I sketched this little guy. His biggest worry in life at the moment is his broken toy. (Boy, if life was that simple, right?) I’m not sure if his expression is more sad than worried. I was having a hard time with that…anyone has any suggestions?
I may try to do this one in gouache since I haven’t used gouache in years.
I really welcome your feedback and comments.

I think you've got his expression down perfectly! I really like the way you've framed him. It'll be great in guage, how fun!

Also, you might find the Creative Cup site helpful. It's a very friendly group of budding illustrators who post up their works and ask for advice and generally encourage and help each other out. It's free, and anyone can join - oh, actually I just now see they say they're full, but you could keep your eye on it to see if there's a vacancy ;). Check it out:

I love this little guy. Funny, even when they're fully grown, boys always seem to worry about their cars.

It's hard to be worried and NOT be a little sad, too, so I think his expressive face is perfect. I also like how his elbow is sticking out of the frame. Well done!

I like the way you have this 'bursting the frame'. Thanks also to Flossy-p for the info on the other site.

Great little sketch. Sadness and worry do go hand-in-hand, so the boys expression is perfect! Looking forward to the color version!
