THANK YOU! I want to start this post by thanking the people that always seem to know when I need some encouragement and always know exactly what to say. I want to say thank you for caring and for taking the time to reach out. I really appreciate it!!!
The holiday season has been officially kicked off at our house, and that usually means that I'll be running around like a chicken without a head until the end of the year!
I wanted to share with you the re-make of one of my favorite illustrations. I had created and animal party a while back and really enjoyed all the characters in it. However, it no longer matched my current style and I had to pull it out of my portfolio. I decided to just re-do it with my new style and I have to say, I'm very pleased with the results.
What do you think?

I love both illustrations; however comparing them side by side, I see where your re-worked illustration has more "depth". The new one has a more interesting perspective in the room since you have a new corner and baseboard; plus I like the cast shadow from the duck. Also, the eyes on the animals on the new work give the animals more personality. I also like the added addition of the pig taking photos.
Excellent in detail, color and composition! The animals look like they are having a great time at this birthday party!
Oh wow! I like both versions, such fun PARTY illustrations.
(Sorry I haven't been keeping up with blogs lately--thankgoodness for FB.)
They both look really good. Personally I like the old one better both color and composition wise. However the new one fits in much better with your new style--it just seems a little too busy. The old one is also more intimate. Of course ultimately it totally depends on what the story needs to determine which one is better.
wonderful work Edrian!!! this is one of my favorites too!!! I love it and am thrilled to have a print of it!!!

You are something else girly!! I love both of them. I can see how you reworked the piece. I can feel all the fun in this delicious piece. The colors are grand and I love the perspective as well. Super cool work!
I like them both!Great colours and perspective!
Love them both, and really like how you reworked this. The cow drinking from the straw is just awesome.
I love all the extra little details. I remember reading picture books as a kid and just staring at all the little small details on the pages. Richard Scarry was a great one because of all the little items.
Your new style has more depth and feel richer. Bravo on the re-do. It is portfolio quality for sure.
