Custom Painted Toy Chest

These are pictures of what I am currently working on. I am donating this piece for my son's school to be auctioned off at their annual silent auction event. My idea was to paint a scene that would work for both boys and girls.
First I primed the wood and drew the images, then I pyrographed the wood to make the outlines strong and well defined. My next step is to paint the whole thing! I'm really enjoying this, and it's not too different from my usual illustrations. I guess just applied on a different medium.

The small bugs and butterflies will have the children's thumbprints on them with their name.  I'll post a picture when it's all painted and then again when it's all finished.

Edrian, This will be a wonderful addition to any child bedroom or playroom. What a great cause too. I can't wait to see it with color added. You are doing a great job with it so far. I like the pyrographed effect too. Well done!

WOW, that's going to be incredible when it's all finished!!! And little tiny thumbprints? How precious is that. Oh, your school is soooo so lucky. I bet it will fetch a hefty donation!

Edrian, this is SO cute! I did a toy chest with thumbprints embellished as little bugs and it came out really cute. That was a few years ago for my son's preschool. Your toy chest will be the top seller, I am sure of it!! I can't wait to see more photos!
