Fallen Angel


This is the sketch of what will be an oil paint. This is not the final version since I'm still trying to workout some layout and composition issues. Once I have that figured out, I'll work on a color version digitally, and then I'll work on a life size canvas. (yikes! - that's going to take a while!).

I'm wondering about making it a series, and perhaps making this a recurring character ... or a series of angels, not sure yet.

Really great sketch! I like the hair. Reminds me of Botticelli's Birth of Venus.

One thing I might do is create some upward curves at the bottom of the dress to heighten the illusion of her falling down in the water. I would also pull the top fish away from her side a bit. And it might help if we could see part of her right hand.
(I always hate to critique others' work, so I don't do it very often, but these are some things I noticed; hope you don't mind)

Can't wait to see it painted. Give us a peek now and then if you are able.
